Data is essential to the success of any company as it provides the basis for crucial business choices, and inaccurate data can have dire effects. Inaccuracy in data occurs when it is altered or modified unintentionally, which results in misleading and incomplete data. Hence, it is important to take active steps to prevent inaccuracies in data and to devise a plan to retrieve data in case of any mishap.

Meet Ryan, a sales executive at Gipson Soft, a software company that relies on Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM to manage its sales operations, customer relationships, and customer data.

While managing sales operations in Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, sales executives at Gipson Soft are often faced with the challenge of accidentally modifying or deleting important data, which can’t be easily recovered.

You must have a backup of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM database in order to restore these changes. Only then will you be able to restore the past changes? Otherwise, Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM does not have an out-of-the-box solution to restore history record changes.

Taking a backup of complete CRM data every now and then can be a difficult task if you want to restore past changes made to specific CRM records.

No worries!

Undo2Restore a preferred solution on Microsoft AppSource enables sales executives to restore a previous version of records and view deleted record history within Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM. Undo2Restore’s ‘Restore History Changes’ feature allows you to undo previous changes made to Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM records.

In this blog, we’ll take a look at how Ryan and Gipson Soft can benefit from the ‘Restore History Changes’ feature.

Restore History Changes

‘Restore History Changes’ feature lets you view all the history changes made to Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM records for a desired period in the History grid.

You can define time period for which you want to view history changes. By default, Undo2Restore displays past record changes done within 30 days. You can edit the number of days for which you want to display history changes.

You can select the necessary changes to restore from the list of past changes displayed in the History grid and then click the ‘undo’ button to retrieve those changes. This feature is extremely useful in situations where you want to recover unintentional changes made to records in the past.

How you can benefit from Restore History Changes feature in Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM

This feature allows you to easily and quickly recover history changes made to CRM records. This can save you a lot of time and effort, especially in critical situations where you want to restore lost information.

It also provides you with a comprehensive audit trail of all record changes, including when they were made and who made those changes. This data can be immensely useful for tracking changes and identifying record modifications.

Assume, Ryan needs to recover the ‘Fax’ and ‘Website’ field changes done to a certain account record within the past 23 days Then he can do so by clicking on the downward arrow next to the Click2Undo button and then on the ‘History’ button.

He will now see a list of previous field changes for that specific record. (Auditing of the said entity must be enabled for this.) Additionally, he can also filter previous changes based on desired fields and dates.

In this scenario, he will filter previous changes based on changes made to the website and fax fields.

The previous changes will be restored once he selects the desired changes to recover and clicks the ‘Undo’ button on the history grid.

To summarize, Restore History Changes is a useful feature that can help Gipson Soft save effort and time spent manually restoring history record changes and ensuring that data accuracy, eliminating the need to maintain CRM data backups, alleviating concerns about data loss, and lowering the risk of human errors.

In addition to restoring previous changes, Undo2Restore’s ‘Restore Deleted Records’ feature allows you to recover accidentally deleted records.
