Introduction

Recently, we faced performance issues in our organization as it became slow. Hence, we wanted something to monitor the performance of our organization so that we can take further steps to improve it. It was then that we found a Diagnostic tool provided by Dynamics 365 CRM which generates a report and displays latency with other performance attributes of an organization.

In this blog, we will see how to monitor the performance of an organization using the Diagnostic tool.

What is Latency?

Latency is one of the primary characteristics of the network that affects the performance of apps in Dynamics 365 CRM. It is the time required for a signal to travel from one point on a network to another, and is a fixed cost between two points.

Problem

One of the main reasons behind the poor performance of customer engagement apps is the latency of the network over which the clients connect to the organization. Lower latencies generally provide better levels of performance.

Diagnostic tool

You can find a diagnostic tool in the customer engagement apps. This tool analyzes the client-to-organization connectivity and produces a report.

Now to check the latency using a diagnostic tool, you have to just follow the steps given below:

1) Go to your browser and sign in to an organization.

2) Open the diagnostic tool by entering the following URL – https://myorganization.crm.dynamics.com/tools/diagnostics/diag.aspx, where myorganization.crm.dynamics.com is the URL of your organization.

Here you will find the following table:

Dynamics 365 Diagnostic

3) Now click on Run and the report will be generated.

 Generated Report

It displays a table with test and benchmark information.  Latency Test row value is considered to be the most important. Generally, lower the number, better the performance of the client. For best application performance the recommended value is 150 ms (milliseconds) or less.

Conclusion

In this way, we have seen how to check the latency using a Diagnostic tool and effectively monitor the performance of the organization.
