The analysis of a recorded desktop process in Power Automate

Power Automate Desktop, Microsoft’s toolset for building automated scripts of on-premises desktop-based application activities, has reached general availability today.

The launch marks a rapid turnaround of WinAutomation tech the company acquired in May 2020 and formally launched as a preview product at Ignite 2020 in September.

Power Automate Desktop gives the Power Platform a broader reach in automating legacy desktop and web applications alongside the more typical cloud service-based scenarios it already supports.

The Power Automate team also announced a preview of “Process advisor”, a new tool for Power Automate Desktop that records and analyzes manual activities carried out by users on the desktop. In Microsoft’s words, it “provides a deeper understanding of how people work and helps you understand which time consuming processes are best suited for automation.”
