In fact, volunteering at Sage rose 30% last year, and the value of this donated time was worth an estimated $5.5 million to nonprofits! With this kind of traction combined with the resources of the Sage Foundation, as each year passes, we are able to do more.
The most recent charitable initiative the Sage Foundation took on was inspired by the 2.6 Challenge, which launched earlier this year on what would have been the date of the 40th London Marathon.
With Sage based in the UK, the Sage Executive Team wanted to show their support and joined the 2.6 challenge to raise funds for UNICEF! Their challenge has been to do any form of exercise between May 29th– June 26th, again with 2.6 or 26 as a theme.
Some are walking, some are biking, and some are getting even more creative. The new virtual event challenged people to do an activity that involved the numbers 2.6 or 26 – from running 2.6 miles to holding an online workout with 26 of your friends. All of it designed to raise money for charity.
During the current global pandemic, charities are experiencing a substantial loss of income due to the cancellation of sporting events like the London Marathon, which alone would have generated over millions of dollars for the thousands of charities connected to it.
Kerry Sinclair, EVP of IT for Sage, has creatively taken up walking on her treadmill while also bringing her luggage along for old time’s sake when we could all travel at will. Cora Beghin, Business Executive at Sage, took on the 2.6 challenge and ran 26 miles and played 26 games of pétanque.
Some current and former Sage Intacct leaders are also participating. Marc Linden, Sage EVP and GM for Medium Segment Native Cloud Solutions, has been walking 26 miles per week during the month of June. Aaron Harris, Sage’s CTO, did a 26 mile bike ride, and Rob Reid, Sage’s Chairman of Midmarket Solutions, is biking 260 miles!

Keep safe, keep active!
