In the last few months, there have been a lot of communication being shared around enforcement of the Team Member license.
Team member license have been introduced as an option for light-weight users that only need to access customer information and perhaps record activities but not really involved in sales process involving Quotes, Orders or Invoices.
As per the notes included here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/sales-enterprise/sales-team-member, users with the team member license are only allowed to work on the following entities:
- Lead
- Account
- Contact
- Opportunities
- Activities
Up until now, these restrictions were not really enforced, i.e. a user that has been assigned a Team Member license would not be restricted from accessing Quote or Invoice records in CRM.
Microsoft has now announced that they would start enforcing the restrictions and to aid customers with compliance, it is now shipping an APP that is designed for Team Member license users.
The Sales Team Member APP is now available in organizations that has Sales Hub app already installed.
With this it would now be easier for organizations to manage the access of Sales Team Member license users and help with compliancy.
Along with the APP, it also ships this security role.
Conclusion
As you can see, the user is only allowed to create activities and has read-only access to accounts and contacts.
