CRM-type app for visiting trade shows?

Hi all!

This might be a little out of the box considering CRM software, so hear me out.

For my job at a retailer I visit a few trade shows every year. We go with a team of 6 and divide up in teams of 2, going through appointments at 1-2 distributors/suppliers per hour. Its a lot of work, with 60+ meetings per show. Across a team of different people.

Now we've tracked these meetings, talking points, documents, numbers/figures, contact info of the people we speak to, calendars with all the meetings in Excel sheets for as long as I'm with the company. That's rather clumsy and does not offer enough oversight and room to properly track what we do. So I want to improve the process. Now I thought: why not use Sales CRM type software, to manage the overview over all these suppliers and the things we discuss with them.

Any of you have any experience with any CRM software that might do this trick? Preferably free/cheap-ish so that we can properly test this out? Any other solutions that you might see as viable?

I understand this is not really the traditional way of using a CRM, but I figured it is more or less the way a sales team uses a CRM, but then more or less the other way around.
