Messy/Old CRM

Hey guys! I recently got hired somewhere and we are using a CRM program only problem is they’ve been using it for over 5-6years and it’s filled with old contacts, extra/too many tags and it’s a mess! What’s the best solution? My thoughts were to export the “paying members” to a new CRM and fix the tags then see where to go? It’s a company that has different levels of membership (free, monthly, yearly, lifetime)
