Total announced a new agreement with Microsoft to work on digital transformation and zero-net emissions.

As a major energy company, Total plans to assist Microsoft with its goal of carbon footprint reduction for its datacenters by 2025. Total will use Azure and Microsoft 365 for internal digital transformation, as well as for the Total Digital Factory. Simultaneously, it aims to put Power Platform to use automating business processes.

Alongside its 100 percent renewable energy goals, Microsoft wants power redundancy for its datacenters. Total is offering Microsoft the chance to assess backup batteries as an alternative to diesel generators, in-coordination with battery provider Saft. The Uninterruptable Power Supply Batteries offered by Saft promise energy use reductions and a self-powered monitoring system.
