The Microsoft business applications conference circuit is always evolving, with events created, rebranded, merged, or shut down. But the coronavirus pandemic has thrown the traditional event model into flux, with some traditional events shifting to a virtual model as others plan to move ahead in-person. A new event launching in September, DynamicsCon, will be all virtual, with a few guiding principles in its setup, management, and visibility.

DynamicsCon will take place on September 9 and 10, and the planning includes a few unique elements, including the session selection method, transparency around finances, speaker pay, and its approach to content availability. (Disclosure: I am a member of the DynamicsCon event committee, which meets periodically with the organizers to provide guidance on the overall event direction but does not have any management responsibilities. MSDW is also a sponsor of the event).

The event will offer 50 sessions over two days that deal with Power Platform, Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Customer Engagement, and Business Central). That final set of sessions was chosen from 231 proposals using an open submission and voting process that allowed all registrants to select up to twelve sessions.
