Business Management, Remote Working
With the beginning of Unlockdown 1.0, the economy is slowly opening up. It means people will go back to offices and resume their work. But how will offices after lockdown look like? Companies have to take care of the health of their employees. Wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining a 6 feet distance will be mandatory norms. The following article discusses 5 important things to take care of reopening after lockdown.
The ‘Please’ and ‘Thank-You’ protocol
How will your office after lockdown look like? Will it be the same as it was before? Well, it shouldn’t be. You not only need to take care that you wear protective masks and wash your hands, but you also need to ensure that everyone else does the same. If you find someone not following the protocol, remind them by saying ‘please’. For example, ‘Please put on your mask.” Also, make it a norm that whenever somebody says ‘please’ the only answer an employee can give is ‘thank-you’. For example, “Thank you for reminding me.”
Hold a COVID-19 boot camp
Reopening after lockdown call for certain measures from your side. Employees will be having many questions in their minds. A ‘What’ and ‘What-nots’ recommendation will go a long way. Here’s how you can do it.
- Allow leaders to conduct a 30 minutes session (Can extend longer) with their teams explaining the Dos and Dont’s.
- Share stories of friends and families who have been affected by the disease. This will help to build a moral case of why they should follow social distancing norms.
- Instead of just giving instructions, allow employees to go through the motions to develop muscle memory. This will help them develop a habit of washing hands, wearing masks, and maintaining a 6 feet distance from others.

Maintain regular score
Reopening after lockdown calls for maintaining adherence scores on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. You should note how well the social distancing norms have been followed in the office. Put a large circle outside the office with a Red (less than 80%), Orange (80%-90%), and Green (More than 90%) level of adherence. Display it publicly. Let your clients have a look at it.
