Basics of CRM

I know for this community this is probably a ignorant question but I’m looking to learn more about CRM as it seems very interesting to me and want to hear from anyone who can give me there opinion or brief synopsis on the general field. I’m looking to get into some classes or at least some reading on the topic but wanted to hear from you all first! Thanks in advance!
