One of the biggest challenges sales and customer service teams face in Microsoft Dynamics 365 is keeping track of last and next activity dates with leads and customers. Surprisingly, Dynamics 365 does not provide out-of-the-box fields for tracking the Last Activity Date or the Next Activity Due Date—but this missing feature can easily be added!

At enCloud9, we’ve helped numerous clients implement rollup fields to automate tracking and ensure sales teams never miss a follow-up. With just a few simple steps, you can configure Dynamics 365 to:

Monitor Last Activity Date – See the most recent interaction with a lead, contact, or account.
Track Next Activity Due Date – Ensure sales reps stay on top of scheduled calls, meetings, and emails.
Improve Sales Pipeline Visibility – Quickly identify stale leads and prioritize follow-ups.

How Does It Work?

By adding two custom rollup fields in Power Apps, Dynamics 365 will automatically calculate:

  • Last Activity Date using the most recent completed activity.
  • Next Activity Due Date based on the next scheduled interaction.

These fields can then be added to lead, contact, and opportunity forms, as well as CRM views, so users can easily see when to follow up with prospects by tracking last and next activity dates.
