It integrates seamlessly with SAP S/4HANA Public and Private Editions, facilitating ERP migrations to cloud environments. SAP BTP enables businesses to develop applications, implement AI-driven projects, and automate business processes through a variety of tools and services.
The platform comprises four key components:
- Application Development and Automation: Tools for creating new applications or extending existing ones.
- Data and Analytics: Solutions for accessing and analyzing data across SAP and third-party systems using a multi-cloud architecture.

Initially introduced as “SAP NetWeaver Cloud” in 2012, it underwent several rebranding phases, becoming “SAP HANA Cloud Platform” in 2013 and later “SAP Cloud Platform” in 2017. In 2021, it was rebranded as SAP BTP, consolidating SAP’s cloud, data, analytics, integration, and AI technologies.
As of October 2024, SAP reports that over 27,000 customers and more than 2,800 partners utilize SAP BTP, underscoring its significance in the enterprise technology landscape.
