User Review
( votes)Hi,
I'm an 8 year strategic comms professional and have only worked in the public sector (UK based). I've wanted a career change for a while to avoid pigeon-holing myself and was interested in agency work based on working closely with them in my job, the prospect of better pay and more creative freedom. I've been offered a Strategist position at a global CRM agency, which I was excited about.
Now, I'm quite anxious about accepting because of various online threads, etc. that state what a crazy demanding work environment agencies are. I took a career break because I worked in demanding teams and was burnt out from the pace so wasn't looking to jump back into that type of environment. Some of the Glassdoor reviews for the company aren't the best either.
The role sounds interesting and would give me strategist and CRM/CX experience, which seem to both be valued skills. I'm also potentially interested in UX longer term, so feel this is a useful stepping stone. I'm just weighing up the fact that I would like a change and plan to use this career step to experiment (i.e. see how it goes and learn new things for about a year) VS the working environment being so overbearing and demanding that it affects my wellbeing. Any friendly and helpful advice to help my thought process is welcome, especially if you have experience in this type of role or agency. I'm feeling quite alone as I have no one to ask.
