( votes)*Edit: I realized I can do templates within Gmail. So that part is solved.
I am a freelance photographer and I was using Hubspot because it was free and easy for me to just log all my communication and seamlessly add my new contacts to a database while I was emailing them. The other feature I liked was the use of email templates since I do a lot of cold outreach.
For the past year or so, my emails have been intermittently arrived in folks' spam folders….sometimes even in the middle of active conversations. I finally figured out why (thanks to the Google Workspace support team). Hubspot (I assume — he just said one of my extensions) was dropping a hidden embedded link into the body of my email. I also think it could have been the BCC address.
What do you all recommend I do? I mostly just need a seamless way to manage all my contacts. If I can get the use of templates, that's great, but I'm more concerned about my email deliverability first.
FYI here are the other steps I have taken:
DNS Configuration:Set up MX records to point to Google Workspace for email handling.Added the required SPF record to authorize Google's servers to send emails on my domain's behalf.Created DKIM records with the correct selector ("google") and corresponding public key.Content and Engagement:Reviewed email content to comply with best practices and avoid spam triggers.Maintained an engaged subscriber list, regularly removing inactive addresses.
