Dynamics 365 is known for its plethora of components and subcomponents, including entities, forms, views, charts, fields, and much more.  Many of these components have had their administration functionality altered, or have had their names changed altogether (e.g., “entities” are now “tables”; “fields” are now “columns”), with the introduction of the Power Platform.  Views are no exception to this, and in the case of administration functionality, system administrators and customizers have the ability to control a view’s visibility to end-users without disabling it.  Before Power Apps, the only way to remove a system view from visibility in the classic Dynamics 365 experience was to disable it completely in the environment.

There are two ways to show or hide Dynamics 365 system views in an app, and both methods accomplish the exact same task.  We’ll demonstrate both methods below.

Method 1

  1. Within make.powerapps.com, navigate to your environment, then locate your app in the Apps section.  Click on the horizontal ellipsis (three horizontal dots to the right of the app’s name), then click Edit.
  2. In the Power Apps editor, click Pages and locate the entity (table) where you want to adjust view visibility.  Then select the view option for that entity.
  3. On the right side of the Power Apps editor, under View, select + Add view.
  4. From here, you can search for and add views to the entity you’re working on.  Note that, by default, all views are visible unless they are explicitly specified.
  5.  Once your views have been added, you can edit the view directly or remove it by clicking the horizontal ellipsisNote that, if you remove all views you have added here, every system view for that entity will become visible in the app because you have no longer explicitly defined views to be shown.
