( votes)PowerApps Component Framework (PCF) can be added to the record form or grid to view the CRM records on the map. Dynamics 365 CRM users can add the PCF control – ‘Detail Map Control’ to any entity, dataset, or dashboard to visualize all the records of the view, sub-grid or dashboard on a map. Detail Map Control provides the users the capability of using Maplytics features right from the CRM page itself. In its Jan 2022 release, Maplytics has come up with the new feature of Multi-Search layers in the detail map control to leverage the full potential of data visualization.
Multi-search layer will allow the users to simultaneously visualize their CRM records from multiple searches- by location, by region, and by drawing altogether on the same map. Further, ‘Proximity Search’ can also be performed at multiple locations on the map to find the concentration of nearby records and take decisions. Undoubtedly, this feature will assist the users to perform a drill-down analysis of CRM data. Let us see through a use case how this feature can be beneficial to the users:
James has a good number of customers for his existing apparel stores in Jersey City and he realizes that he is gaining customers in Staten Island. Looking at the scope of the market, he decides to open a new store in Staten Island to gain more customers there and he has a few options for it. As location can significantly assist his business to market his product, he wants to select the best location for his store after analyzing his CRM data and checking the region where he has the most number of customers using the ‘Multi-Search in PCF’ option.
At first, to visualize the records of the dataset in PCF, James adds the PCF – Detail Map Control to his accounts entity using the steps from the help files. All the records for the dataset ‘Accounts – Staten Island’ is plotted on the map by default as in the image below.
He sets one of the possible location for the opening of the store as the ‘current location’ of the proximity search, then he enters the radii of the search. This allows James to visualize all the nearby CRM records in that area.
Thereafter, James can also click in the circles to visualize its Summary Card. Summary Card provides concise information on parameters like number of accounts, average annual revenue, etc. for any enclosed area on the map. This will allow him to visualize his nearby customers from that location.
Then, to perform a new search, he clicks on the ‘+’ button in Plot Records card, thereafter, he again performs proximity search from another promising location and visualizes the data of both the searches at the same time on a map.
Similarly, he performs another proximity search from a different location. This gives him a clear idea of the concentration of clients for all the location options he has in Staten Island.
James also wants to see the crowd of the clients in the leftover region as well. So, he performs another search by using the ‘by region’ option from ‘Plot Records’ card as shown in the image below.
He can also open the ‘Layer Menu’ to visualize the layers of the searches performed. He can easily use the toggle button for the individual searches performed to show or hide them.
Therefore, with Multi-Search in PCF feature, James can take data-driven decision to select the best location for his store. He compares the number of records for all the possible store locations and then he selects ‘998 Abingdon Ave, Staten Island’ (current location of third proximity search) to open the store as it has most number of nearby records.
