Spinning up a new VM in Microsoft Azure may be easy, but it comes with a range of long-term responsibilities for maintaining system health like backups, security, performance monitoring, and configuration tracking.
A new service, Azure Automanage aims to simplify these duties by eliminating the need to write scripts and manually change settings across multiple Azure tools and services that keep VMs safe, secure, and performing efficiently.
Microsoft announced Automanage at Ignite 2020. Now in preview, Automanage is free but Microsoft’s web site states that pricing will be announced “in the future.” In a new episode of Azure Unblogged, Dean Wells, principal program manager for Azure Automanage, said the base service will remain free after GA. In the future it could include paid tiers for premium services.
