De-mystifying currency revaluation in Dynamics GP
Writing on the Jack Boyer & Associates blog, Mike Muscarella noted that multi-currency accounting is no easy task. In his blog post, Muscarella explained exactly what currency revaluation is. He also pointed out that although revaluation is usually done for balance sheet control accounts such as accounts payable and accounts receivable, you can configure Dynamics GP to revalue any financial account necessary.
He offered an example of a Dynamics GP company that has to invoice its overseas companies in Euros even though its functional currency is U.S. dollars and explained step-by-step how to perform a currency revaluation in Dynamics GP.
An Office update that creates problems with Word template printing in the GP client
On his Dynamics GP Geek Blog, Béat Bucher wrote that the latest round Microsoft Office updates (Sept. 8 or 9) “screwed up” users’ GP clients by preventing the Word Template from opening after they were generated. However, the Dynamics GP support team stated that the issue is with opening the file, not the generating process.
Bucher wrote that at the moment, the only known fix for now is to roll back the updates applied to the Office package or hold off on the updates now until the issue has been resolved.
This is not the first time such a problem [has happened], as it occurred in the past by affecting the VBA functionality in GP after some .NET or Office updates.
He also noted that the GP support team’s quick fix was to roll-back the update to the previous build, although he had not tried that fix himself.
