A 150-year-old marine transportation company in the United States partners with Zelite on Dynamics 365 CRM Cloud Migration Services.

About Client

The client is one of the oldest and largest marine towing and transportation companies in the United States. For over 150 years they are engaged in ship docking, general harbor towing, coastal towing, and bulk transportation on the U.S. East Coast. The company has served the maritime community continuously, earning a reputation for unsurpassed excellence.

Client Requirement

For several years the client had been using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement On-premises. They were happy with the functionality of the system, but were beginning to experience limitations due to its on-premises infrastructure, such as difficulty in accessing the system remotely and the need for regular maintenance and upgrades.

The company wanted to migrate their system to the cloud, specifically to Dynamics 365 Sales, to take advantage of the benefits of cloud technology. However, they had concerns about the cloud migration process, including potential downtime, data loss, and integration issues with other systems.

Solution

To migrate from Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement On-premises to Dynamics 365 Sales on the cloud, a thorough assessment of the existing CRM was conducted. This assessment helped to identify potential areas of risk and necessary customizations that would need to be addressed during the migration process.

Zelite then developed a customized Dynamics 365 Sales cloud migration plan, which included the following steps:

  • Migration of data: The data migration plan developed by Zelite ensured that all existing data was migrated securely to Dynamics 365 Sales. This involved identifying and mapping data fields, developing a migration schedule, and testing the migration process.
  • Customization migration: We analysed the customizations and module-driven apps made in the old system, merged them together, following standard practice, and imported the merged solution into Dynamics 365 Sales to ensure the replication of all custom entities, roles, products, workflows, business rules, web resources, and business processes.
  • Integration with other systems: The new Dynamics 365 Sales was fully integrated with other systems, such as the Helm, where the data was seamlessly shared.
  • Testing and training: We performed extensive testing verifying that the new system was fully functional and met the needs of the company. We also provided end-user training confirming their proficiency in utilizing Dynamics 365 Sales.
