Communication tracking needs

Hello guys,

I work as a journalist and have to contact lots of people. I am in need of a tool that can help me more efficiently track communications, maybe a CRM is the way to go. My ideal functionalities are below. Can anyone recommend a software that can do this?

  1. I want to sync a software with Gmail and my phone so that when I send a message or make a call a communication log is automatically updated in one single contact feed that shows both emails and phone communications.
  2. I need to be able to see the dates of the most recent sent and received emails for each contact, as well as other statuses, such as –
  • If I need to initiate contact
  • If I contacted someone and I am waiting on a reply (and how long I've been waiting)

Additionally, it would be useful to have labels for-

  • if I called/emailed and no one answered
  • if I called/emailed and left a message
  • If I called/emailed and received a contact
  • If I called/emailed and was told to call back at a certain time and what time
  1. It would be great if a software could automatically order contacts by how long it has been since they were contacted or how long it has been since they contacted me, according to customizable times. (Gmail kind of does this but there isn't enough control and it would be great to be able to do this in a crm).

  2. Often, I might need to contact the CEO of a company and I might have to go through multiple people to do this. For example, I might call a company and get in touch with the operator that tells me to call them back later. Then I call them and am referred to an administrative assistant and then I need to send them an email. Only after all that am I able to receive the contact info of the CEO and pursue communication. I need an easy way to show the flow of contacts and how they relate to each other.

Please help!

Thank you
